the devastating Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma
nearly one year ago. Millions of victims were
touched by your generous help. We've done our
very best to ensure that your support went where it
was needed most.
Because of you, more than
244,00 relief workers, including tens of thousands
of new volunteers of your American Red Cross:
- Helped more than
1.4 million families -more than four million
people- with emergency assistance
- Provided more than
68 million meals and snacks
- Sheltered hundreds
of thousands in more than 1,400 shelters
- Distributed more
than 550,000 relief packages to hurricane-wrought
communities
Here is how the Red Cross
has prepared for this year's hurricane season:
- We have more
disaster relief supplies in more locations across
the country.
- We have more
community partnerships that will provide better
services.
- We Have improved
our disaster relief system to be better, bigger
and faster.
What you
can expect from your American Red Cross:
Should a disaster strike your community, we'll
continue to work closely with the first responders
and other partners where you live. The
Red Cross will be nearby in a safe place, offering
shelter, a warm meal and caring people ready to
help.

The best way to make your family and home safer
is to be prepared before a disaster strikes.
This mean making an emergency plan for your family
and having a disaster supply kit ready. Just
doing these basic thing eases the burden on your
community's first responders after a disaster.
