The Red Cross provided nearly $1.4 billion
in emergency financial assistance to more
than 1.4 million families—more than 4
million people—during the 2005 Hurricane
Season.

Provided emergency financial assistance and referrals to community
partners, to 536 people whose
pre-disaster address was listed as being
in the disaster-affected areas.

Deployed more than 325 disaster volunteers to assist in the
Gulf States and Florida

Trained more than 300 new disaster volunteers, ready to help wherever
needed – locally, regionally or
nationally

Established, trained more than 150 volunteers and operated a
Red Cross Response Call Center, which
took more than 18,000 calls from
disaster clients in the affected area
More than $11,000,000 was donated directly
to the Red Cross National Disaster Fund,
for hurricane relief for those affected
by this disaster, by residents in the
American Red Cross of the Delmarva
Peninsula jurisdiction of the state of
Delaware and Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester,
Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties in
Maryland.
