Eleven People, Including an Infant, Assisted by Red Cross
after Home Fire Near Canby Park, Wilmington

Latin American Community Center provides help with communications

Wilmington, DE – January 5, 2007 – Eleven people, including 2 children and an infant, are being assisted by Red Cross volunteers after a house fire on Cleland Course, Cleland Heights, near Canby Park in Wilmington this afternoon. They were given temporary accommodation, groceries, clothing and infant supplies, by trained volunteers from the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula. Assistance in communicating with the families was provided by the Latin American Community Center.

The American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula is recruiting volunteers and provides free training for those wishing to become disaster volunteers, who assist families devastated by fires, floods and other disasters. To learn more about disaster volunteers and other Red Cross volunteer opportunities, attend a volunteer orientation at Red Cross offices in Wilmington on Tuesday January 9th, 5:00-6:00pm.
