Red
Cross Responds To 4 Fires In 3 Days
SEAFORD, DE – January
18, 2008 – In addition to a fire earlier this
week in Cambridge, MD, last night and today, your
Red Cross responded to two more fires affecting a
number of homes. Last night, two adults survived a
tragic fire in Preston, MD and were assisted with
food, clothing and a safe place to stay. Today we
are responded to another multi-family fire in
Cambridge.
The good news is that
we can help! Thanks to the support of our community.
The assistance that your American Red Cross was able
to provide the families affected by these disasters
is a result of donations of time and money from you
our community.
Remember, with
plunging temperatures this weekend; be safe in your
home. 4 out of 5 Americans are unaware that home
fires are the most common disaster threat. The
American Red Cross reminds you to safeguard your
family and home by taking simple steps to stay safe
in case of a home fire: • INSTALL SMOKE ALARMS
OUTSIDE EACH SLEEPING AREA AND ON ADDITIONAL LEVELS
OF YOUR HOME. • TEST EACH SMOKE ALARM ONCE A MONTH
AND REPLACE BATTERIES AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR. • KNOW
AT LEAST TWO EXITS FROM EVERY ROOM AND PRACTICE
ESCAPE ROUTES. TO LEARN MORE, CONTACT the American
