New Symbol Expands the International Red Cross Movement Outreach

March 28, 2005 – Wilmington, DE – The International Committee of the Red Cross has unanimously agreed to recognize a new symbol, the Red Crystal. This additional symbol will now stand alongside the Red Cross and the Red Crescent acting as protection and defense for the humanitarian workers in conflict areas. The Red Crystal is a neutral emblem for use in situations where the Red Crescent and the Red Cross may be perceived as having religious, cultural, or historical connotations.
