Two families,
including 4-month-old baby, assisted by Red Cross
after apartment fire in Dover
SEAFORD, DE – April 28, 2006 – A couple
left homeless after a fire destroyed their Autumn
Run apartment, on Webbs Lane in Dover, yesterday
afternoon was being assisted by the Red Cross. A
mother and her 4-month-old baby who were displaced
after smoke and water damage to their apartment,
were also provided emergency assistance by two Red
Cross volunteers, who were at the scene soon after
the 3:00pm fire started.
Red Cross assisted the husband and wife with
temporary lodging, clothing, and food , and provided
food, clothing and infant supplies for the mother
and child. Both families were also provided with
referrals and other information and advice to assist
in their recovery from this disaster.
The American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula
provides emergency assistance to those affected by
all kinds of disasters, from home fires to floods
and other major catastrophes, free of charge,
according to their needs. This disaster relief
usually consists of food, clothing and temporary
accommodation and a recovery guide, well as referral
to other community agencies for help with
longer-term needs. Where mental health services are
needed, trained Red Cross volunteers are available
to help. All American Red Cross disaster assistance
is free, made possible by voluntary donations of
time and money from the American people. |
