30 residents helped by Red Cross after Newark apartment fire

WILMINGTON, DE – April 29, 2006 - Ten families, a total of 30 people, were given emergency assistance by the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula after a mid-afternoon fire at Harbor Club apartments off Rte 4 in Newark. The families were displaced when fire destroyed one unit of a block of twelve apartments and rendered the other units temporarily accessible due to smoke and water damage. Nne Red Cross volunteers, members of the Disaster Action team, were on the scene to assist the affected residents with temporary lodging, and vouchers for clothing and food. The families were also provided with referrals to partner community agencies, nd other information and advice to assist in their recovery from this disaster.
