Local Volunteer deploys to the South

May 13, 2011 Wilmington, DE- Anita Stiles, a local volunteer with the American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula, deployed last night to work as a shelter manager in Mississippi.

To date, the local Red Cross sent 27 volunteers to assist in relief efforts across the South.  In addition, on April 29, 2011, the Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula’s Call Center was activated and continues to field calls for affected people searching for shelters and other critical information.  The Response Call Enterprise volunteers provide support and serve as an informational resource for those affected by the storms.  This allows the Red Cross chapters in and around the affected areas to assist in the on-scene disaster relief efforts.
