PRESS ROOM ARCHIVE 2007
The American Red Cross of the Delmarva Peninsula
serves the state of Delaware and Caroline, Cecil,
Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot counties
in Maryland. During FY05, volunteers and paid staff
responded to 197 disasters throughout our
communities, providing disaster relief - free of
charge - for 277 families. 17,236
people were trained in lifesaving skills such as CPR
and First Aid. And 1,011 emergency
communications sent through the Red Cross kept
members of the military in touch with their
families. More than 265 seniors living
independently were given peace of mind through our
Lifeline medical alert program. 26,144 people
on the Delmarva Peninsula received Community
Disaster Education information, teaching them the 5
steps for emergency preparedness. All these services
were made possible through the help of more than
2,000 volunteers who make up 97% of the
workforce of the American Red Cross. The Red Cross
is not a government agency; it relies on valuable
donations of talent, time and money to do its
humanitarian work. Marguerite H. Prueitt
is the CEO of the American Red Cross of the Delmarva
Peninsula. In case of emergency, contact
