The American Red Cross of the
Delmarva Peninsula is in urgent need of your help as
it launches an emergency campaign to raise $500,000
in three months – before the end of the fiscal year.
Community support is essential for Red Cross to
continue to provide its life-saving services in the
nine counties it serves in Delaware and Maryland. YOU
CAN HELP BY MAKING A FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION.
What if…...
… the Red Cross could NOT be there after a house
fire in Kent County or a flood or other disaster in
New Castle County, ready to help with food,
supplies, shelter and other essentials?
What if…...
… the Red Cross could NOT be there, to train people
in CPR in Cecil County or life guarding in Sussex
County, to help them save lives in emergencies?
What if…...
… the Red Cross could NOT be there, when emergency
strikes, to help families all over the Delmarva
Peninsula get messages to and from their loved ones
in the military?
What if…...
… the Red Cross could NOT be there, to teach entire
communities in Delaware and on the Eastern Shore of
Maryland how to keep their families safe in case of
major disasters such as hurricanes?
We
need YOUR help so that we CAN be there
Our neighbors, co-workers, friends and relatives
have come to rely on the American Red Cross whenever
disaster strikes. No other agency provides the same
level of support – 24 hours a day, free of charge –
to take care of their immediate needs and help them
get back on their feet. All this costs money – for
offices and office equipment, for vehicles and gas,
for supplies such as food and clothing for those
affected by disasters, and also for trained staff.
The Red Cross relies on financial donations from the
community it serves to fund its operations. Over
the past few years as donations have fallen off or
been directed to catastrophic disasters in other
parts of the United States, reserves have been used
up, and now the local Red Cross is in a precarious
financial situation—despite staff, space, and
program cutbacks.
Many people don’t realize that the American Red
Cross is not a federal agency and we are NOT funded
by the government. We rely almost totally on
contributions. People like YOU help us to be there
to provide disaster relief and emotional support
when disaster hits right here at home. When
donations decline, our lifesaving services are on
the line.
Help us keep our promise to be there whenever or
wherever our help is needed.
